Update On Alleged Terrorism Threat

The following email was sent out to traders this morning 12/6/2018

Dear Traders,

Many of you will have seen reports in the media this morning regarding an alleged terrorism threat earlier this year focused on Melbourne landmarks, including Queen Victoria Market (QVM).

Victoria Police has confirmed that this threat was assessed at the time as posing no known threat to QVM, and this remains the case. QVM Management will continue to work closely with Victoria Police and other authorities to ensure the market is a safe place for all who work, shop and visit here.

Our precinct managers and market officers have been briefed and will be moving through the sheds today and will be able to answer questions from traders and customers. As a precaution only, there will be an increased police presence on site over the coming days at both the day and night market.

If you or your customers have any questions or concerns, please speak to your precinct manager, market officers and/or security officer today or to contact me directly.

For more information on what to do in an emergency download the Emergency Responses fact sheet. Hard copies are also available for collection at F1.

Regards,

Stan Liacos
Chief Executive Officer
