A serious
fire has damaged one of the key buildings in London’s iconic Camden Market
complex. The fire occurred after closing on Monday and around 70 firefighters
were required to bring it under control.
It is understood around 30 per cent of the first, second,
and third floors, and a third of the roof of the 30 by 40 metre building, was
damaged by the fire although as usual, water damage would have taken a toll on
surrounding areas.
The affected building housed many displays by individual
craftspeople who were unsure of the impact on their businesses. Surrounding
areas of the market were expected to resume normal trade.
