Munro Site Proposal Adds Laneways

The Munro site adjacent to the Queen Vic Market is in the news this week with drawings being released for a complete upgrade of the site and the City of Melbourne urging the State Planning Minister to give approval.

The current Munro site is all about facade with some old warehouse areas in behind that we don't get to see, but the new Munro Building will present an opportunity to enhance the whole site and include some laneways and pedestrian areas that Melbourne is so famous for.

The concept drawing below is focused on one of those laneways and is located at the southern end of the site looking back towards H&I Sheds in the market. The red brick construction shows up well here.

This render shows another pedestrian area at the back of the shops along Queen St.

This overhead view of the Mercat Cross Hotel (see below) shows an intriguing design that we look forward to finding out more about.
