recently wrote on these pages about long term traders who leave our market
without fanfare. Long term traders like Peter Erlich and Peter Perillo were
here one day, and gone the next. This is not an unusual occurrence in retail
where businesses transition all the time and it can be said that the newly
introduced QVM Trader Awards will help address the recognition issue.
But
there is another way, and it involves industry recognition. The Lord Mayors
Commendations have been going on for many years now and scores of traders have
walked the stage at Melbourne Town Hall to receive their awards. Official,

CBD is a special way of receiving acknowledgement for years of service and an
opportunity to promote our wonderful market at the same time.
