We read a report in Inside Retailing this week about an innovative lolly shop called Happy Pills that takes a well worn lolly shop concept and tweaks it to make an exciting new retail idea.
Happy Pills was discovered in a back street in Barcelona and it features a pseudo pharmaceutical white environment complete with pink cross over the door. Customers select from a range of sweets and then choose from a number of pill bottle variations and finally an appropriate label. Fun is the name of the game here and the shop offers cures for a whole range of ills from bad hair day to sexual infrequency.
The idea isn’t all that new but the lesson is that putting the right combination of enticing merchandising ideas together can excite consumers.
