Market Trader Elected To City Council

Dairy Hall Trader, Michael Caiafa, has been elected to Melbourne City Council and will join councillors led by returning Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle, as they shape the city’s progress over the next four years. Full election results here - https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/Results/Council2016/MelbourneResult.html

Michael campaigned on the Phil Cleary ticket in the city elections which included opposition to the plans for renewing the Queen Vic Market. Ironically, it is unlikely that Michael will be able to vote on matters relating to the market, because of a conflict of interest. However his involvement in city matters as an experienced retailer bodes well for all small businesses in the municipality.

We congratulate Michael and all those voters who saw the wisdom of having a small business voice in the city’s affairs and recognised the importance of The Queen Vic Market in the future of Melbourne.
