Two items of interest in this week’s retail news indicating that some retailers are showing confidence in the future.
Ikea Plans Smaller Stores
Ikea
is known for its huge, maze-like, hypermarkets but in an interesting move it is
now planning a larger number of smaller urban stores in conjunction with a
first time look at online selling.
Ikea Australia expects to increase the
number of stores from 8 to 22 over the next few years. The plan includes the
building of two distribution centres which will enable increasing the number of
products held in Australia from 1300 to almost 9000.
Cotton On Moves Into Homewares
Cotton On have partnered with
Australian furniture designer and retailer, Mark Tuckey, to formulate a new
homewares range categorised under the Eat, Drink, Relax, Store, Bathe and Sleep
tags. The new range has just been released online and will be in select stores
from next week.
