One of our traders has a
history of losing mobile phones and these days that can be an expensive loss. On
at least one occasion the phone was stolen from her stall.
On this occasion she was
frantically looking for her $800 plus phone and getting more agitated by the
minute when a neighbouring trader piped up that she had seen the phone lying
unattended on the stall while our trader was distracted by customers, and had taken
it for safe keeping. The neighbour also admitted that the opportunity to teach
her friend a lesson could not be missed.
A few expletives and a
general air of relief followed. The lesson here is that we can very vulnerable
to theft and some simple precautions are worthwhile. In this case the
trader agreed that a handbag over her shoulder to safeguard her mobile and cash
would be a good idea.
