Cafe Bans Laptops

According to a report in The Guardian, a cafe in eastern USA has banned the use of laptops and tablets at its tables and claims business is better.

This bakery/cafe got sick of patrons who used their tables to work, often spending hours glued to their screens. It didn’t take much analysis to work out that these customers were a lot less profitable than average customers and so the owners of the cafe decided to ban the technology. They had always envisioned that their cafe would be a place for socialising, laughter and chit-chat.

The owners estimated that the average customer spent $15 per hour in their premises while the technology buffs spent around $5 an hour. Something had to be done for the business to survive. Since the ban, growth has been recorded at 10% which is around double previous levels.
