The
“milk bottle” sculptures suspended above the F shed lane way have generally been
received favourably but one of our traders has an interesting explanation for
their existence.
This
trader was overheard explaining to a quizzical customer that the bottles were
in fact part of the market plumbing system. The trader went on to explain that
there was a hole in the roof but staff had been unable to find its exact
location so had placed multiple bottles under the roof to catch the drips.
Apparently
that explanation was good enough for our customer who walked away quite
impressed by this plumbing innovation.
We do have some “wags” amongst our traders.
