Australian Retailers Copy US Juggernaut

In US retailing the pinnacle of the trading year occurs around Thanksgiving (the 4th Thursday in November). The day after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday, the big day for bricks’n’mortar stores (think Boxing Day), and the following Monday is Cyber Monday, the big day for online sales. Combined, they produce $ billions worth of sales and Australian retailers are about to attempt their version of Cyber Monday.

Myer, Target and The Iconic are just a few of the Australian retailers about to embark on Click Frenzy, a day set aside for retailers to promote online-only deals. The big sale starts at 7pm on Tuesday 20th November and goes for 24 hours. Major retailers like Myer, Westfield, Toys’R’Us, Dan Murphy’s, Dick Smith and Target will join over 100 retailers in the promotion.

Click Frenzy will be an interesting test not just of Australian consumers appetite for online sales, but how well Australian retailers have embraced this new way of doing business. http://www.clickfrenzy.com.au
