A Trader's Wish for the Future

I have some thoughts on the future for General Merchandise Traders.
1.       I would like to see an overall plan for the top end of the market that combines current professional retailing knowledge with the traditional and unique things that make our market special.
2.       I would like to see a major emphasis on tourists which not only benefits General Merchandise Traders but the whole city of Melbourne.
3.       I would like an answer to the trading hours dilemma. Our hours are confusing and out of touch with shoppers.
4.       I would like to remove the jumble of overhead signs and stock that do little more than confuse customers and replace them with meaningful signs (in keeping with our traditional surroundings) that identify, personalise, and describe individual businesses and their owners.
5.       I would like to see traders putting more thought into their presentation, merchandising and general demeanour.
6.       I would like to see QVM place fewer barriers to traders wanting to vary their stock content so that the excitement of innovation and tantalising your customer could be enhanced.
I would like to see more excitement and variety in the top end.
